It's Cool to Fake It

New York Magazine just reported on this and I found it really interesting. Juergen Teller, the famous photographer who has been shooting the Marc Jacobs ad campaigns since 2005 has been dubbed. There has been an imposter sporting ads like the one above, giving the same kind of picture and Marc Jacobs label, but they aren't Teller's photo.

The fake ads have been cooked up by Thomas Larsson and Greg Hart of Hart + Larsson. They are making an artistic statement by taking a popular subject putting it into a well known ad and giving it to the world to look upon and respond. What makes the ads so interesting is at first glance they could pass as an actual ad. However, unlike the actual ads this one, called "Mr. Teller's Borg + McEnroe," is about something. Its a play between the Wimbledon match between Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe.
This new fake series of ads can be found at the website, The New Enthusiasm. Hart + Larsson also said that the "Comming Summer 2008" is not true and have no plans for the pictures as of yet.
