Teen Male Breast Reduction on Rise

ABC News says that male breast surgery is rising for teens. New York plastic surgeon Dr. Elliot Jacobs says probably 40 to 50 percent of all men have some degree gynecomastia, which is unwanted breast tissue. Gynecomastia is sometimes referred as "man breasts". However, male teens between 13 to 19 years-old are the ones receiving the majority of the corrective surgeries.

I found this article to very interesting because society tends to forget that men have problems with their bodies too. Men might change their bodies, so they can have a better self image and confidence booster. However, I think that boys should not be getting surgery at the age of 13 because they have not grown into their bodies. My second critique of the article is their use of the word corrective surgery instead of breast reduction. Corrective surgery makes the procedure sound more medically dire.

Yes, it's true that youngsters should wait awhile before they undergo a surgery. A thorough check up with the expert will be a smart move.
