Fashion and Fantasy

On May 7th through September 1st at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City there will be a special exhibit entitled "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy". Marvel superhero costumes will be on display during this time encouraging discussion of concepts of superheroism and their expression in fashion.

If you are in the city, definitely check it out!

Instyle.com even covers superhero fashions that have been mimicked by runway designers for years. The creation of the superman cape was recreated in green by Antonio Berardi in his Fall 2008 fashion line.







More examples of heroic recreations were designed by Jonathon Saunders (above left) in 2004 and Gianfranco Ferre (above right) in 2002. Their spring ensembles mimicked that of The Body Electric.
