The Orange Carpet: Serious with a touch of funk

The Orange Carpet scours SU to roll out the best of campus style (die, hoodies, die!).

We love following celebs, because they are always pushing the fashion boundaries. But in wanting something more authentic, we turn to our schoolmates for inspiration.

Nicole Hering, a senior CRS major, happened to catch our eye with her funky, yet serious vibe. You can usually find her wearing an artsy style with a plaid shirt, crotched hat, and skinny jeans.

Though dressed for a meeting, Nicole still managed to add some quirk to her outfit. The black ensemble is broken up with a white Haynes tank, while her gold earrings and white and gold necklace keep the look from becoming dreary.

You’ve all heard the saying: All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Well in fashion, drab looks with no personality make Anna Wintour scowl

Nicole managed to create an outfit that's smart, yet distinctive with her JCrew black sweater, stockings, and necklace; skirt from New Look, Tahari shoes and earrings from a street vendor in London.

We'd personally rock this look to an interview. It tastefully shows some personality without being flashy. Remember, you don’t have to lose your individuality when entering the work force. Anything you couldn’t write on your resume can be stated by your clothes!
