Rag Report dives under the covers of fashion publications to rant or rave about all the glossy goodness.
Judging by Italian Vogue’s December cover and main editorial, it’s official: the fashion world has hopped aboard the twitter bandwagon.
The cover, featuring top models Christy Turlington, Lara Stone, Kasia Struss, Gisele Bundchen and Natalia Vodianova, has an amateur vibe. The low-quality photos, which appear to have been collaged in MS paint, are entitled “meiselpic” after the photographer of the shoot Stephen Meisel, and are meant to represent the ever-popular twitpic.

The first page of the editorial explains the concept behind the shoot: Meisel is sick with swine09 so he sent clothes to the girls to photograph themselves in. The majority of the shoot focuses on the models and the concept instead of the clothes. One image that manages to do both, though, features Sessilee Lopez taking a “cig break.”

Sessilee looks stressed and tired in the main photo of the shoot, but manages to still appear glamorous. The series of her shots takes us behind-the-scenes with her and makes us wish we could still look that good under such pressure (whatsup finals?).
The styling and her pose are fierce: all black, some leather, some sequins and magenta leopard knee-highs. It’s a bit reminiscent of the ‘80s (as much of the trends today are), but has a modern twist.
We’re always down with editorials that go beyond simply photographing clothes on pretty girls, and we think this idea is pretty clever. Plus, it features some pretty legendary models in some pretty funny poses (ahem, Kristen McMenamy…), which we love to see.
Kristen McMenamy's, well, interesting take on the shoot.
