Rag Report: Vibrant down under

Rag Report dives under the covers of fashion publications to rant or rave about all the glossy goodness.

In Vogue Australia’s March issue, model Abbey Lee Kershaw makes us long for the warm beaches of Australia, or at least for spring to finally come to Syracuse. The editorial, shot by Max Doyle, features bright, summery colors and vibrant hair and makeup. The surf-inspired clothes show peaks of skin with cutouts. This editorial is a wonderful escape from central New York’s dreary winter.

Vogue Australia March 2010

The first look is a one shouldered, nude one-piece bathing suit with braided cutouts. Her bright fuchsia lips and yellow dip-dyed hair add some pop to the colorless bathing suit. Finally, the stylist added giant 80s inspired earrings.

Tie-dye cut outs

In this shot, the cutouts add some glimpses of skin on a tie-dyed dress with a high neckline. This photo highlights her amazing eye makeup with a wash of yellow, pink, and purple. Her slicked back hair has a “just out of the ocean” look.

Surfing the couture wave

While posing with a surfboard, Kershaw looks ready to frolic on the beach in her Jean Paul Gaultier pale pink gown.  Her bright pink dip-dyed hair, orange lips, and turquoise nails give a rainbow effect to the pale dress. We love the shocks of color with the ocean as a backdrop. The cutouts show just the right amount of skin, something lacking in our winter wear.
