Break out your Go-Go dancer-style mini-dresses and channel Holly Golightly with cropped skinny pants- the sixties are back, baby!
Model Sadie Newman shows off the trend in Glamour’s November issue with prints and colors that look straight off the set of Mad Men. In the second photo, the fuchsia color of the dress stands out beautifully against a white dove. The dress is classically mod with a twist: it covers everything except the legs.
Animal prints are everywhere this season, but perhaps the most attention grabbing is this leopard coat. Paired with winter whites, the leopard is not overpowering but chic and sexy. The ruffles on the dress are even reminiscent of Mike Myer’s ruffled shirt in the Austin Powers movies.
Perhaps one of the most quintessential sixties-esque pieces is the cropped skinny pant. From Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s to Twiggy, it seems as though everyone who was anyone wore these. Here, Newman shows off a great pair from Express. The pointy-toed flat elongates the leg when paired with the cropped pants.
These photos by Hilary Walsh show off new ways to wear mod-inspired pieces. The downtown Brooklyn neighborhood gives the shoot a cool city vibe and a Studio 54 feel. The almost ethereal lighting lends beautiful color to the photos and lets the clothing stand out. Model Sadie Newman brings her own talent to the shoot and looks like she would fit right in with leading ladies of the sixties. This inspired trend is definitely one to try for fall.
