Rag Report: Stylish Worker Bee

Rag Report dives under the covers of fashion publications to rant or rave about all the glossy goodness.

In this month’s Vogue Italia Beauty, model Charlotte di Calypso poses as an unproductive worker while wearing sophisticated neutrals and show stopping outfits. Photographer Miles Aldridge captures Calypso in a 6-page spread doing menial office work.

The first image of Calypso has her idly sitting on the edge of the desk, notes in hand and a bored look on her face. The composition between her outfit and the background is perfectly done. She seems to blend in with the interior as she wears a beige turtleneck and brown slacks. The styling of the hair also helps create a mundane yet structured atmosphere.

Aldridge adds a little humor into his photographs which is very much appreciated. Again we see Calypso with the same blank look while scanning her face. We love the neutral and gold color scheme as well as the simplicity of this photo. Her accessories are a simple gold watch and earrings. Even though Calypso looks bored, we can’t help but laugh at this image.

Calypso plays the character of bored worker very well. This is the epitome of what nine-to-five workers participate in; listening to music as they pretend to work. The model is able to look statuesque and mannequin-like in every photo. Her actions just reinforce her expression because the work is ultimately boring. But we can’t talk about this image without focusing on the jewelry. Fashion Editor of Vogue Italia Cathy Kasterine, pairs this very simple bra with a jaw-dropping necklace.

Overall we love this editorial. The humor is refreshing as we don’t see it too often in fashion spreads. The minimalism that is depicted in each photograph reinforces Calypso’s expression as well as Aldridge’s message.
