How do say...
For those of us, who are not fashion suave, I found a perfect article in The Wall Street Journal. This article gives the phonetics on how to pronounce the names of famous designers like Jean Paul Gaultier (zhan paul GO-tee-AY), Alber Elbaz for Lanvin (al-BEAR el-BAHZ for lon-VAN), and Nicolas Ghesquière (NEE-ko-la guess-KYAIR). Also, there are audio files, so you can listen to the pronunciation. The only drawback is they only have audio pronunciations for twelve designers. Since listening to the audio files, I realize many of us say these names wrong. However, the more you practice, the easier it gets.
