I just learned from Fashion Week Daily Dispatch that Hannah MacGibbon will replace Paulo Melim Andersson as the creative director of the French fashion house Chloe. The CEO of Chloe let Andersson down easy, speaking of him in complimentary terms when asked about why Andersson is being replaced. I side with a lot of critics who say that Andersson took Chloe away from its feminine and bohemian style. He seemed to replace it with sort of a gothic punky look Chloe has always been one of my favorite designers because of its romantic and sophisticated look, which hit its pinnacle under the creative leadership of Phoebe Philo. Chloe hasn't been the same since she left, and I guess the difference is starting to effect Chloe's bottom dollar.
Philo was responsible for the legendary Paddington bag, one of Chloe's biggest successes. I still dream of having one of these bags. Hannah MacGibbon worked under Philo while she was there, so hopefully she can bring back some of the sophisticated charm that made Chloe one of my favorites.
