But the coolest thing about summer dresses of late is that a lot of styles are showing up in jersey knit, comfortable fabrics. Not only does it reduce (or eliminate) ironing, but it makes for the kind of dress that can be worn day in, day out, inside and out, and feels almost like PJs.
Thankfully though, with the addition of decorative woven, beaded, braided and rouched details, most of these dresses don't look like lingerie.
I think the best picks are the bra top dresses from Victoria's Secret, or the knit options from juniors retailers Delia's and Alloy. Most knit dresses come in a variety of bright colors, in various cuts - halter, babydoll, tube, etc. I have a few of these, and I think the best part is that they can be dressed up by adding a belt, or a cardigan, or choosing wedges over flip-flops.
I read an interview with Tyra Banks where she commented that she only wears jersey knit dresses when she travels, because they are both cut and feminine, but also comfortable and wrinkle resistant. I like to think that she has perhaps identified the most perfect travel fashion dilemma on earth...

I agree, knit dresses are so great for the summer. And not only that, but they are extremely comfortable as well. And I just love how a switch around of accessories could give you so many options of looks with these dresses. You certainly can't beat that!
