Rag Report: From Russia with Fur

Rag Report dives under the covers of fashion publications to rant or rave about all the glossy goodness.

Elle Russia is clearly not concerned with PETA’s tirades.

Maybe it doesn’t exist that far across the pond. Who knows? But the publication featured some pretty luxurious furs in their November 2009 issue.

Marina Scopcareva making a train getaway (in fur).

In this editorial shot by Danil Golovkin, Marina Scopcareva waits in a subway station. While it’s not the most original of locations, the styling is notably...um, unique. Marina wears extravagant furs paired with gaudy, slightly tacky accessories.

It's almost as if she's a fur thief looking for an alternative exit route.

Train wreck: In this photo, Marina’s clutching onto her coat as if it’s her most treasured possession, while a polkadotted fur hat rests awkwardly on her head. Perhaps she spotted it and grabbed it while running out the door?

A freaky fur frenzy.

But on a happier note, this is our favorite look of the shoot:

A fur coat styled to perfection.

Maria is wearing glamour in excess: sequins, huge gold earrings and beaded necklaces, zippers, statement shoulders – everything right on trend this season. And somehow she seems so “over it,” which makes the whole look work so well.

Overall, the shoot was a bit hit-or-miss. Some of the looks really caught our eye, while others made us shake our heads and wonder why? (oh yeah, we rhymed)

But good or bad, afterward we felt the need to raid dear grandma’s furry coat closet.
