Rag Report: Black and white and read all over

Rag Report dives under the covers of fashion publications to rant or rave about all the glossy goodness.

Color is often a key component that makes a shot visually exciting. This especially holds true in fashion photography when the colors of the clothing alone can make the whole image pop.

This time around though, Monika “Jac” Jagaciak and photographer Richard Bush make it work without the colors in the December/January issue of Numero.

The whole shoot is set in a rocky domain. Its light background contrasts with the primarily dark clothing beautifully and really adds to the overall starkness in the shots. This becomes apparent in the photo of Jac standing alone, yet proudly, in the destitute location. She’s styled a la Gaga (read: pantsless), but appears dominant as ever with strong styling on her upper body.

In the second shot we favored, we see a more elegant and refined side of Jac. Though she’s wearing a lace bodysuit and metal-studded cuffs, the velvet cape, classic pearl earrings and sleek hair lend her an air of sophistication.

Our favorite shot, however, features Jac lounging on the rocks as though she’s tanning in the south of France. The sequined harem pants could be none other than Givenchy couture, and we’re a little bit obsessed.

Along with the embellished pants, the detailed boots, layered necklaces and harsh bracelets could look overdone when put together, but the simple black turtleneck pulls them all together nicely.

Lastly, Jac’s face in this shot is simply divine.

She seems to be in complete stress-free bliss...we’re jealous.
