Rag Report dives under the covers of fashion publications to rant or rave about all the glossy goodness.
Gone are the stiff hunched back poses of past editorials. In the newest Vogue Germany, Swedish model Frida Gustavsson lets loose. Photographed by Greg Kadel, Gustavsson shows off the hottest looks of the season. Throughout the spread, she sports psychedelic blue hair, cutesy cat whiskers and even a smile in one shot. Gustavsson’s poses vibrate with fun, especially her owl gesture that showcases the delicate sheerness of her jacket.
Face shots seem out of place in the editorial that is supposed to make the clothes front and center. Although the cat eye and pretty beauty mark are nice to look at, we are wondering what falls beneath the collar of that jacket with the architectural shoulder.
Makeup is art in this editorial. In some looks it takes center stage, while in others her face is left refreshingly bare. We love how her eyes pop when framed in electric blue, vivid yellow or a dramatic swipe of black.
The most effective shots are when her makeup matches the luxurious fabrics featured in the editorial. This particular animal skin dress has the most amazing structure with strong voluminous sleeves and bursts of yellow. Of course, the stars of the shot are Alexander McQueen’s out of this world armadillo shoes (oh, how we miss him).
The editorial creates a good balance between fun and serious, natural and bold; just what every girl needs this season.
