Biz Buzz: Another One Bites the Dust at Ungaro

Biz Buzz keeps its fabulously accessorized ear to the ground to provide breaking fashion news coverage.

After a 3-year term with French house Emanuel Ungaro, menswear designer Franck Boclet has announced his departure from the company. Boclet plans to launch a menswear line that will be displayed during Paris’ men’s fashion week in June and sold primarily in Asia and the Middle East. “I wanted to focus on basic luxury items at an interesting price point,” Boclet told WWD. The decision has caused the label to put a halt to its menswear runway collection, but it will still produce its licensed menswear lines. A spokesperson for Ungaro also stated a runway collection may be relaunched in the future.

News of Boclet’s exit comes hot on the heels of Estrella Archs’ recent departure as Emanuel Ungaro’s chief women’s designer. The label also parted ways with its former women’s artistic advisor Lindsay Lohan last October. Ungaro is said to have been in talks with London designer Giles Deacon to fill the position of creative director, but as of right now, no official confirmation has been made.

When will the troubles for Ungaro end?
