The Orange Carpet: Don’t Strip Down, Wear Stripes!

The Orange Carpet scours SU to roll out the best of campus style (die, hoodies, die!).

Now that the weather is heating up in Syracuse, everyone’s instinct is to shed their layers. Just because it’s hot doesn’t mean we have to strip down to stay cool and look chic. Booty shorts and tank tops are not the only alternative to skinny jeans and down jackets. Class it up girls!

A fresh short sleeve dress with stripes will do just the trick. Take a cue from Bevin Donahue, a sophomore Public Relations and Anthropology major, who stylishly threw together an outfit that’s memorable for all the right reasons.

Surprisingly, Donahue said she only chose the outfit because it was the first thing she found in her closet. With her loose ponytail and her dress hanging over her shoulder, Donahue’s look screams effortless, fun, and flirty. Her black belt keeps this striped H&M dress from being shapeless. Her black Steve Madden shoes complement the black stripes in the outfit and match the belt perfectly.

How does this fashionista describe her style? “I guess I take classic stuff and mix it with trends,” Donahue said. When shopping for day-to-day stuff, you can find her in Topshop and H&M. “My favorite designer is Marc Jacobs, but obviously I can’t afford him.”
