John Galliano was dismissed from Dior Tuesday after a video of the designer making anti-Semitic statements in a Paris bar went viral, according to the New York Times.

The designer released a statement Wednesday apologizing for his behavior: “Anti-Semitism and racism have no part in our society. I unreservedly apologise for my behaviour in causing any offence.”

Galliano could now face prison time, according to Fashionista.

The Academy Awards Sunday night was a fashion feast for those who live for red carpet style. Hailee Steinfeld in Marchesa, Scarlett Johansson in Dolce and Gabbana and Cate Blanchett in Givenchy made my best dressed list. Who made yours?

Rag Report: All about the ‘70s

It appears that spring 2011 is dedicated to the ‘70s. From runway collections to the hottest trends it’s all about the ‘70s. In the March issue of Vogue Latin America, model Siri Tollerod dons ‘70s inspired fashion. Photographer David Roemer and stylist Sarah Gore Reeves animated the eight-page editorial with spring pieces from Blumarine, Roberto Cavalli, Sonia Rykiel and many others.

Tollerod is a model that knows how to work her angles. Her expression as she looks away from the camera, in the first picture, is nothing short of stunning. Immediately, we are drawn to her strong cheekbones and piercing eyes. Everything about this image is extraordinary. Roemer perfectly captures the movement of the dress as well as highlight the spring colors. Can we just mention how amazing those light blue platform heels are? The hair works perfectly in this photo. It’s puffed up and strangled to perfection.

This photograph is adorable, yet still fashionable at the same time. The look on Tollerod’s face explains this image to a T. Roemer photographs Tollerod’s expression, which is a mix between surprised and relaxed. The patterned color is reminiscent of spring, which we are excitedly looking forward to.

The last image is the most memorable. It’s minimal, yet powerful. The neutral power suit with wide leg pants and oversized blazer is fashionably chic. The makeup and hair compliments the whole look of the photograph. Her facial expression and casual stance adds to the image.

We applaud Vogue Latin America for this amazing editorial. Photographer Roemer and model Tollerod outdid themselves with the images. Every time we glance out the snow-covered windows of Syracuse, we will be looking at this editorial to remind us of spring.

Rag Report: Down-to-Earth Under the Fireworks

Katy Perry went from the singer of “kissed a girl” to a pop culture sensation overnight. It’s no wonder Elle magazine put “pop’s sweetest vixen” on the cover of their March issue. Carter Smith captured Perry and Joe Zee styled her in the latest trends. Readers can see the personality of this pop sensation and, how grounded she truly is.

In this photo, Perry has her arms spread like an eagle allowing us to see her as she is. Her facial expression is soft yet serious, showing us she has nothing to hide. There is a sense of promiscuity in her gaze, but also a contrasting sense of innocence. She is wearing a white Pam Hogg lycra romper with chiffon sleeves and a gold headband around her waist. Her outfit offers angelic connotations, which conveys a sense of innocence.

The second photo Perry wears a strapless Oscar de la Renta dress with a swansdown skirt and Christian Louboutin water snake pumps. Her luscious wavy hair frames her soft facial features. She wears an interesting expression of confusion or uncertainty, which shows us that although Perry is full of self-confidence, she doesn’t always know the answers. In the article readers will get a sense that Perry [doesn’t feel like she can “act like an entitled bitch yet.”]

Readers see a more sensual and seductive side of Perry. She is wearing a Blumarine silk-bland dress with a Robert Lee plated brass collar around her neck. All of the angles of her face are beautifully pronounced as she gazes into the mirror. The shadows also add to the atmosphere and the lights create noticeable highlights on her face.

The articles and photos portray Perry as a fashionable, bold and fun pop star. She is in love with her career, husband, Russell Brand, and staying true to herself.

Vogue brings the world of Avatar to US newsstands this month in its March 2010 editorial  “The Warrior Way,” featuring model Daria Werbowy.

The 9-page spread, photographed by David Sims, successfully combines the ethereal essence of nature and ethnic beauty with the bold, strong spirit of a warrior. Werbowy shows effortlessly chic style with tribal print dresses and skirts in fluid, detailed fabrics. In this spread though, the accessories definitely steal the show. The strongest shot features a fashionable, but not practical, Gucci dress with a metal harness that instantly evokes a tough-girl attitude.

And what would a warrior be without armor? The Comme des Garcons shoulder pads and belt give this otherwise-mundane Blumarine tie-dye dress some much-needed personality and punch.

Our resident Amazon woman is made even tougher with the iconic Armadillo platforms by the late, great Alexander McQueen (another great fashion tribute). The hard-looking shoes are then greatly contrasted by a softer, more feminine look in a following shot, featuring a wonderfully-detailed, beaded green silk dress by the late genius.

Overall, the composition of the spread works not only because of a great setting that complements the clothes well, but also because of the attention to detail. Having Werbowy don cornrows and tribal tattoos really completes the look and makes the entire theme believable and beautiful.
