Mix & Match

Hey everybody! Have you ever complained that you do not have enough clothes to wear, even when you are just finished with your entire day shopping. You just cannot find a perfect match from your wardrobe.

Uh…. What’s the problem? Well, I used to be like that, never satisfied with my clothes. When I came to know the concept “Mix & Match”, I knew exactly what I wanted.

Every single piece of your clothes has a little magic. You have to know how to use it. Let’s do the magic now! Put all of your clothes on the bed, your stockings, your shoes, your scarves and whatever your have, pick up the perfect color and shape, then match and mix them. It may seem a little bit complicated, I’m going to show you some pictures, so you can get the idea. (P.S. All of my pictures are Asian girls, because I think those girls did a really good job on “mix & match”. You do can find other girls from different countries that do a good job on mixing & matching!)

As you can see below, a sneaker can go well with dressy pants, a necklace or a hat can make you totally different. The same clothes with different accessories can present different styles! That is the magic!

The last thing you need to do is to believe yourself and be confident, you can make the magic with your little wardrobe.

Now, how about the guys? Do they have a “mix & match” style? Of course they do, though they do not have it as much as girls. So next time I will talk about the guy’s “mix & match” and I will also introduce a really fashionable guy to you. He can totally represent “mix & match” style. He is an amazing guy!!

When the weather outside is frightful...

Finals are here along with hat hair and persistent colds. Really, it’s hard enough to get up for 8a.m. classes let alone crank out that paper due tomorrow. Sometimes, you just need a break from the eerie silence of the 4th floor of Bird Library. What better way to procrastinate than online shopping?

The euphoric feeling of putting those beloved items you’ve been eyeing in your shopping cart beats trekking to Marshall St. for a Starbucks gingerbread latte any day of the week.

One of my favorite web sites is shopbop.com. Every brand you could possibly wish to browse is located here, in alphabetical order of course. Earnest Sewn, Marc Jacobs, Missoni, Juicy Couture… the list goes on and on.

Of course, there is that pesky financial crisis bringing down the high you get when you see those fabulous black J Brand skinny jeans you so desperately want. You will be happy to hear there is a way around lack of funds—the sale section.

By far the best part of shopbop.com is the sale section. It's like Christmas all year round with not only 30% but 50% and 70% discounts on beautiful leather Botkier bags and luxurious DKNY wraps. No need to feel guilty about whipping out the credit card to buy those stunning strappy Michael Kors heels when you should be purchasing your mother’s Christmas gift--it's almost murder how cheap you're getting them for!

Before you know it, your order has been processed and it’s time to face reality—that essay deadline is looming and you have a headache from staring at the screen on your MacBook for so long.

But you feel much more relaxed and ready to tackle anything, especially when you think of the “surprise” you are going to get in the mail in a week: those fabulous high heels… and a couple of other things you just had to grab before they were lost to some evil online shopper at Georgetown University. Ugh.

The company strives to balance beauty, performance, and sustainability by using environmentally friendly fabrics and keeping their environmental footprint as small as possible- what's not to like?

pixel perfect

Check out this video by Lancome about their partnership with designer Thakoon Panichgul to create Pixel Pink lipstick, the last in the company's limited edition Pout-a-porter series created by makeup artist Gucci Westman, for his spring 2008 fashion week show.  It's great to see designers talk about the concept behind their show, and how the hair, makeup, and clothes piece together.  Pixel Pink is now for sale on the Lancome website, as well as Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, and Lancome boutiques.

The Epitome of "Cool"

Do not go to this site if you want to maintain the belief that you are the trendiest person on the face of this earth, because if you visit this site, I guarantee your naivety will no longer remain intact and your definition of what is "cool" will be redefined. Okay, maybe this is a good thing...

Either way you should check this out. It has the latest, craziest trends in fashion as well as art, music, books, design, and more!

My recommendation though-- just don't show up to class wearing one of these...
